Access to Dry Season Agricultural Content in the Broadcast Media and Dry Season Irrigation Farming among Smallholder Farmers in Nigeria

Inaccessibility to information could hinder the adoption of dry season agriculture which is very significant ending spate food insecurity in Nigeria. This cross-sectional survey examined access broadcast media agricultural content and effect such on practice among smallholder farmers Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Participants consisted 381 selected from rural settlements Kuje Kwali Area councils, through a multi-stage sampling procedure. Data for study was generated via self-designed questionnaire. The findings this show that high (94.2%) FCT majority (83.1%) are particularly exposed programmes farming. However, regularity exposure considered rare/occasional by sizable proportion (44.8%) farmers. research further confirms general acceptability but major snag (>50%) think time at inappropriate. In terms practical implications programmes, also revealed <50% respondents believe farming has helped them improve their knowledge practices. Nonetheless, most remain adamant dry-season not achievable productive; therefore, they have engaged irrigation agriculture. We concluded gained sufficient successfully engage recommends long-term sustained campaign farming, use interactive programme content, rescheduling farmers’ preferred yield desired impact security
